This is a scarf. I am actually almost finished with it and am pretty pleased with how it is turning out. I used Paton Yarns Bohemian Wandering Wine which is a pleasing mix of burgundy, purple and a fleck of green.
This is part of my efforts to make Christmas more homemade and less crazy this year. This scarf knitted up very quickly - I should finish today and it only took a few soccer practices to complete. I have been knitting for many years off and on and have never progressed beyond scarves. If you have a craft or hobby that you have left off due to lack of time perhaps this is the year to begin again. It seems everyone spends time at soccer fields, dance classes or co-op classes. Why not occupy your hands while the children are at their activity? So go dig out your knitting needles, crochet hook, embroidery hoop or loom. Make those hours spent on the sidelines work for you. In my case My husband is enjoying the baseball playoffs and I am enjoying spending the time next to him knitting. It is my hope that the people who receive these gifts from me realize that each stitch contains a prayer for them and each inch is filled with love.
This particular scarf is going to a person who may read this blog so I won't give it away. She will receive it in a basket with a tin of gourmet hot cocoa, a pretty bowl mug and some homemade sweet. I hope that she is pleased.
More scarves are in the plans for some pretty girls I know. They have outgrown their winter coats so the new coats need some pretty accessories. Maybe I'll even try for some hats.
Stay tuned for a post about gift baskets and theme gifts....
I wish we lived nearby, Mary Ellen.
Kayleigh, my oldest dd, gave her sister a crochet/knit basket for her birthday.
Her godmother showed her how to crochet(basic) so she's been making lots of "chains" but she's eager to learn how to crochet. We haven't tackled that yet and it would be so nice to have someone on hand who knows how.

The scarf is beautiful, Mary Ellen, and so stylish currently! It seemed like when I was a kid scarves were soo 'what not to wear' that I was a teen before I owned one. What a difference a scarf makes! I am sold on them, so cozy and warm.

Mary Ellen, the scarf is beautiful, as is the idea! I have a few "fluffy" scarves that my mum made me. I treasure them!

Mary Ellen, the yarn you chose is a beautiful color. I am making some of these for friends and family as well. I like to work on them on Sunday, when I try not to do too much around the house. It is fun to sit with my family and knit away while they play or watch a good movie.
