For many years now my family has participated in our parish's annual Christmas pageants. We always found it to be a most rewarding and enjoyable experience. I have had children perform as Baby Jesus (by perfrming I mean sleeping in my arms as Dave and I play Mary and Joseph), we've had angels, shepherds, and in utero John the Baptist (Like Winter Waiting) and many other little and big roles. These productions serve to, not only, provide a lot of enjoyment for those attending (what's cuter than five year old angels or six year old shepherds?) but to also bind children to their faith by providing a visual of the Nativity story. It's a beautiful tradition.
I love looking at the photos people post of their shepherds, angels, kings and the Holy Family. I think it's one of the most endearing parts of the Advent season, so I thought it would be fun to host a link-up of Christmas pageant posts on the Feast of the Holy Family. December 29th just link your post here and we can all enjoy the beautiful pageant photos and further promote Catholic culture.
In this day when our right to display Nativities in public and enact living Nativity scenes is under constant attack let's do what we can to promote this tradition and share a little of the joy it brings to the season.
Won't you join us?
